Fasnacht means carnival in the Alps
Fasnacht, or carnival, in the Sonnenplateau Mieming & Tirol Mitte region, is celebrated with colorful parades going back to a mixture of pagan spring festivals, Christian rites and secular folk customs based on pagan traditions of using fearsome masks to chase away evil spirits, but then again, it's just the time of the year when people let their hair down and enjoy life to the full. But visitors should know that the colorful parades are held in infrequent intervals:
